Asuntos

Morgan está comprometida con la inversión en el poder de los trabajadores y el movimiento obrero, apoyando a los sindicatos y a la organización laboral.

Vivienda: Derechos de los inquilinos y acceso a la vivienda asequible

Renters and co-op owners are being crushed by out-of-control fees and increasing costs from a building maintenance crisis.

An existential threat looms for the historic Amalgamated Houses in Van Cortlandt Village, the nation's first low-equity cooperative houses facing financial and structural demise. Despite the boasting of $10 million in state aid for the Amalgamated, not a cent of this funding has been made available to actually use toward any repairs to date. Morgan will work to end the bureaucratic red tape and advocate for residents living in fear of displacement from potential privatization. Amalgamated and Mitchel-Lamas offer working, middle-income New Yorkers pathways to affordable home ownership, and Morgan will fiercely defend them.

The 81st District is where a residential building from NYC Public Advocate's "worst landlords of NYC" took the top spot. Morgan will work to ensure renters know their tenants rights, including rights to form tenants associations. She will ensure unscrupulous landlords in violation of city and state tenant laws are held accountable.

Cuidado infantil y educación temprana

As a teacher of 20 years, Morgan will bring an educator's voice, as well as a mother's, to Albany.

Bronx families spend the highest percentage of their income on childcare of any U.S. county. This burden is exacerbated by the Borough's larger wealth gap and low median household income compared to national averages. Morgan knows the struggle firsthand. She and her husband, also a teacher, were in debt for five years after paying for childcare on credit cards before their sons were school-aged.

Morgan will ensure that Bronx families have equitable access to NYC's newly-expanded free, universal childcare including 2K and 3K programs. She will also work to expand childcare and daytime programs during all those school holidays, including summer, winter and spring breaks.

Economía local

The vitality of our local businesses and their ability to stay open should be equally a state priority as it is the city's.

When Morgan gets to Albany, she will work on advancing legislation that directly addresses incentives to help our local business corridors stay thriving. She will work to fast-track a vacancy tax so greedy commercial landlords do not receive tax credits for lingering empty storefronts.

She will also start a district-wide program to help small businesses and merchants access opportunities for contracting, subcontracting and purchasing with the state, like Minority- and Women-Owned Business Enterprises including navigating the system to apply for and receive certification.

As a community organizer in the North Bronx who started a rapid response dispatch group in her neighborhood, Morgan has called for the expulsion of ICE out of New York and has hosted Know Your Rights canvasses. She supports dismantling ICE and strongly believes the passage of NY for All should be in its entirety.  Morgan also called for federal agents to be held criminally liable in a court of law for unconstitutional violations against New Yorkers. Morgan has and continues to organize bystander and rapid response trainings in the North Bronx.

Derechos de las personas con discapacidad

Morgan is calling for state legislative action in response to the Trump administration’s attacks on disability rights. The Department of Justice removed nearly a dozen Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance guidance for businesses last year. These moves are promises to roll back enforcement of the ADA including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act–federal civil rights protections for educational services and programs for the disabled that receive funding from the U.S. Department of Education. The Trump administration has shown that they intend to deliver on Project 2025's mission to gut the ADA and dismantle the Department of Education.

As a woman who is legally blind and lives with a visual impairment, Morgan will lead New York's fight for protections on behalf of the disability community.

Priorizando a nuestros adultos mayores

From transportation safety to protecting our elderly population from scammers targeting seniors,  Morgan believes our aging population deserve more attention.

Morgan will prioritize serving seniors with respect and dignity so they can receive timely information and assistance while navigating the many layers of government and new technologies related to applications and interactions.

Calles más seguras

Morgan acknowledges that gun violence in a neighboring community impacts the entire district and we should not look away. As an educator, she will look to proactive solutions to curb youth-involved street violence by investing in early education and community-led violence interruption programs. She will fight in Albany to increase more funding specifically for the Bronx to address the borough's unique challenges with rising teen-involved gun  violence. She is partnering with community advocates for more transparency with NYPD's newly-proposed North and South Patrol Divisions for the Bronx, announced this year in response to the increase in shootings, so public safety measures do not become over-policing and officers can build trust in the communities they serve.

LGBTQ+ Rights

Trans rights are human rights.

Morgan will fiercely defend queer and trans families from making their own decisions with their doctors on gender-affirming care. She will partner with advocates and organizations fighting the Trump administration's threats and unconstitutional rollbacks to LGBTQ+ rights. As an ally, she is working to promote and bring inclusive programming and events to the district.

Justicia ambiental

Morgan strongly advocates for polluters to pay hefty fines and penalties, including illegal dumping across the Bronx. She will also advocate to institute safer and additional green spaces and planting of trees to mitigate highway air pollution that contributes to Bronx children suffering higher rates of asthma.

AI Regulation

Morgan is a strong supporter of AI regulation in order to prevent dangers related to privacy and workforce replacement. From unpredictable malfunctioning to potential bias and discriminatory outcomes, Morgan will advocate for a safe balance of the use of AI.

She opposes unregulated and untaxed expansions of data centers, which are contributing to environmental hazards and rising utility costs passed on to consumers.
